>> Hi and welcome to the new video about my June favourite products!
Summer is finally here
and as it happens every year
after a moment of pure joy
I realized I don't look like this in a bathing suit
but I look like this
and the joy suddently turns into panic!
Summer strains to the limit our skin
the sun ruins it, we may get sunburned,
the heat enlarges the pores
and there always that shiny effect which makes us look like a too seasoned salad.
That's why I decided to focus this month skin care section
on some products and suggestions to avoid this kind of problems.
The heat enlarges the pores and makes the skin oilier, that's a fact,
if then you have an oily or combination to oily skin like mine
things can go wrong quite quickly.
While looking for a solution to this problem
I found and tested the Body shop tea tree pore minimiser ,
which is this one.
I read some very positive reviews online
so I decided to purchase it.
The first positive thing is that the price/quality ratio is quite good,
because a package like this
contains 30ml of product
and you need really a few for a good result
and it costs 14.00 euros.
The matte and astringent effect is real,
and the skin immediately looks more uniform and smoother
making it easier to apply the foundation.
The duration is good, on the web site they say 12 hours,
but my experience shrinks it to 6/8 hours
which is not bad anyway.
A bad note, even if very personal,
it's the smell which I don't really like,
I would have liked better something more neutral.
Anyway the overall balance is positive and I suggest it.
Body Shop tea tree minimiser
you can find it on line or in the stores.
Another valiant expedient to minimise the shiny effect
is to use a fixing make-up spray
right after the foundation
and before the powder.
I discovered this secret thanks to a MissGlamorazzi video
and I tested it with good results.
I used Diego Dalla Palma make up fixer
which is quite good, you can buy it online too,
at the price of 19.90 euros.
As usual you'll find the link to my blog in the info box
and on my blog you'll find the purchasing links of the products I'm speaking about.
The idea is to apply the foundation
and the concealer
then spray the fixer
wait until it dries out
and then finish up with the powder
for a longer lasting matt effect.
It's a perfect suggestion for special occasions
like weddings or nights out
when you need your make up to be perfect
without constantly adjusting it.
Anyway I don't suggest you to use neither the pore minimiser
nor the fixing spray on a daily base
because they tend to prevent a correct skin transpiration.
So use these tips carefully
without overdoing.
I'll finish up the skin care section
with an aftersun, perfect for the season.
It's the Nivea moisturising aftersun lotion with Aloe Vera,
a very easy to find product.
I discovered it by chance two years ago
I was on holidays in Puglia
and after an whole day in the sun I desperately needed
something to give relief to my burnt shoulders.
The only one available back then was Nivea's
moisturising aftersun lotion.
But it was a lucky chance because I fell in love with it
and I kept on using it since then.
The positive side is that being a lotion
it's easy to apply
and it quickly soaks in
It suddently feels cool
and thanks to the Aloe Vera it has a soothing effect
in case of light sunburns
and it's deeply moisturizing.
I loved it so much I kept on using it even
during the winter after the shower,
because it's perfect for those who have
a very dry body skin.
It moisturizes the skin and leaves it smooth and silky.
The price is interesting, it costs 6.65 euros,
the package contains 200ml of product,
and you can find it in the majority of supermarkets.
So I really suggest it, Nivea's moisturising aftersun lotion.
This month make up section is dedicated to 2 low price and good quality products
and they are both from Maybelline.
Let's start with the first one
which is Maybelline Lasting Drama gel liner
Finally a good quality, easy to apply, long lasting eyeliner at a reasonable price!
As you see in the package you'll find:
a glass container with the product
and a brush
with thin rounded shape, perfect for the use.
Being a gel it has the right texture to ease the application
on the contrary of liquid eyeliners it doesn't need a super firm hand (surgeon style)
and differently from the cream eyeliners it's not too thick and hard to apply.
The brush easily flows on the eyelid
and thanks to the thin and rounded shape
it's easy to adjust the line thickness
and even on a second application
it doesn't get thick or crackles.
So Maybelline's gel eyeliner is really a product I would suggest
because the price is good and the result is perfect even after some hours
it doesn't crackle or smudge.
It costs 10.49 euros
and I love it so much I bought the black version
and the brown version too.
Moreover it's easy to find in the majority of supermarkets.
The second product is the lipstick Super stay 14hr by Maybelline.
If lightness and lasting in a lipstick are important features for you
you cannot miss this product.
Superstay is available in 10 shades,
I chose one of my Summer favourites, Coral,
which is called "stay with me coral",
and I'm wearing it now.
The texture is really light
once you apply it you forget you have it on,
it really lasts long, here it says 14hours,
but eating and drinking I would rather say it lasts
5/6 hours, which by the way is not bad for a lipstick!
The finished look is matte,
once you apply it you forget you've got it on,
it doesn't dry or sticks the lips
and if you like the glossy look
you can top it with some lip gloss and it will still last a long time.
In few words this is a jewel!
It costs around 9/10 euros depending from where you buy it
and it's easy to find in the majority of supermarkets.
Let's start the fashion segment with
this dress,
which I bought from Asos
and you can see it in this picture.
In its simplicity this is not only my June favourite
but probably my Summer favourite
because it has this slant and asymmetrical cut
which fits perfectly both on slightly overweight people like me,
and on skinny people.
It's a must have because you can dress it down
with some skinny jeans
or you can dress it up by pairing it with heels.
It's the perfect dress to bring on holidays too
because it's really versatile.
I paid it 53,00 euros
and you can find it on Asos
and by the way it's available in white and red too.
Speaking about comfortable and versatile clothes for the Summer vacations
you've got to have a light fabric maxiskirt.
I've been wearing a lot this cotton pleated model
which I bought from Primark
It's comfortable, it's light, it fits nicely
and to give you an idea here is a picture,
so that you can see it with your eyes.
I paid it 12 pound at Primark in London
but I'm sure you'll find some simlar ones, at even better prices
from H&M or you can visit my blog
the link is in the infobox below,
and you'll find the details of a similar but more expensive model I found on Asos.
The third and last item for the month of June
are the Capri skinny jeans,
the cropped ones.
They are a summer must-have
You can find them mostly everywhere
I bought them on the american site Modcloth and I paid them 60$
They are versatile,
like all jeans clothes they match with every colour
and they can't miss from your wardrobe.
As soon as I saw them on Asos I knew they had to be mine
What shall I say? They are fun and comfortable,
they are quite easy to pair
with jeans or skirts
they are perfect for Summer
I paid them 33,00 euros
and if you are looking for some shoes to make you stand out
These are the right shoes for you!
For the accessories segment
my passion of the month are
skull pendant earrings.
As you can see I made some different ones
in various colours and shades
I think they are cute and
right for Summer
Infact I chose colours like turquoise, red and pink
easy to pair
in the hot season.
If you are interested you'll soon find them
on my blog and on my facebook page
This month I would like to substitute the classic book segment
which usually ends these videos
with a "various" segment
for two reasons:
the first one is that even if I read some books this month
none of them got me excited.
If for some reasons you should be intersted in what I read
you can check my books list on Anobii
which is a sort of social network about books
for those of you who don't know it,
the link will be in the infobox below
together with all the other social networks.
The second reason is that I have some products,
which do not fit in any of the segments,
that I particularly liked in the month of June.
The first various item is this candle by Yankee Candles ,
Pinapple and coconut, the perfect candle for Summer!
It reminds me of suntan oil, beach, piñacolada
I was led to think that scented candles
were mostly a winter thing,
then I saw Yankee candles summer scents,
and they were amazing!
That's why I got me both this one and
triple berry which...
reminds me of strawberry popsicle.
So these are scents absolutely perfect for Summer
I can't remember the price of this smaller size
On the web site, I will post the link,
as you will see there is still a larger version
with two wicks, at the price of 29,00 euros
and it's supposed to burn for 85hours, a very long time!
The second product I would like to talk about
has been my true June obsession
is a food, Quinoa!
Unfortunately I don't have some to show you
because as soon as we get it we eat it.
To give you an idea I'll show some pictures.
Firts of all I wish to say that is is an herbaceous plant from South America
belonging to the spinach family,
even if by shape and use it reminds more of a cereal.
As you can see it's made of tiny grains
that once boiled grow in volume and turn translucent.
The taste is neuter
and it's really easy to cook.
It cooks by simply boiling it.
It's perfect for different recipes
it could be for example a valiant alternative to rice
or to cous cous,
it's good cold or hot.
My favourite recipe
the one I cooked several times in the month of June
it's the Quinoa taboulé.
If you are interested in this recipe
you cannot miss next monday cooking video
where Daniele and I will cook and herbs tenderloin
with Quinoa taboulé and yogurth sauce.
It's also good to know that Quinoa
it's rich of nutritional properties
it contains fibers, minerals, vegetable proteins
mostly unsaturated fats
and it doesn't contain gluten which makes it perfect for celiacs too
What do you want more?
It costs 5/6 euros per package and you can find it in bio markets
or online, as usual I will list the links on my blog
Well that's all for this month too,
I hope my siggestions will be usefull to you
I wish you a wonderfull July and I'll see you at the end of the month for a new video
Ciao!
Summer strains to the limit our schkin...the schhhhkinnnn!
